Virtual Well-being Companion with Emotion Detection Capability for Elderly People

In order to assist elderly to do daily check-ups and chit-chat in community care, we developped an anthropomorphic cantonese virtual chatbot, proposing daily activities like exercise, yoga and music. The virtual assistant is able to adapt its behaviour based on the emotion of the elderly individual, detected through speech.

Grace, Humanoid Robot as Occupational Therapist for Hospitals

From the humanoid robot hardware provided by Hanson Robotics (video), we adapted her behaviour to take the role of a nurse in hospital for patient's daily check-ups. For this purpose, we have to incorporate several modules (ASR, TTS, Dialogue manager) and work along with multiple teams (Robotics, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Vision).

Care Navigation Portal for Elderly and Caregivers in Hong Kong

In collaboration with local NGOs, HKSYU and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, we developed a care navigation portal to assist caregivers and elderly in Hong Kong to easily find various services (financial support, residential care, physical assistance, etc...) through the web portal and an interactive cantonese chatbot.

AI-aided Asteroseismology: reproducing gravitational waves with machine learning

In this academic projects, we explored signal generation using RNN, LSTM and GAN in the context of gravitational waves, as such data is extremely difficult to collect practically.
